Firsts

We've reached a milestone. CB had his first real smile. We loved it. He's smiled a lot before now but it was inconsistent and he would never duplicate on command, so we figure it must've been gas, as they say. But today I would say Good Morning to him while I was changing him and he smiled over and over. Enough for me to run and get the camera and catch it on film. So dang cute.

Glad Påsk! (Happy Easter from the Swedes)

CB's Easter outfit was a light blue polo shirt onesie and brown pants. It was super cute. So then Trav was getting dressed and he happened to put on a blue shirt and brown pants. Not even realizing he was wearing the same outfit as CB. So I decided I'd join in and wear a brown skirt and blue shirt. We were a happy brown & blue Easter family.

Hook 'Em Horns!

That's what everyone was yelling today at the Alltel Arena where we were sitting on the second row right behind the band at the NCAA first round game of Texas vs Austin Peay. The game wasn't too exciting because Texas worked poor little Austin Peay, but it was fun to go to my and CB's first March Madness game thus far. We're lucky that Travis works for Alltel and has friends that have friends that work for ESPN to hook us up with such great seats. Mostly CB slept in the sling but since we were practically on the floor right by the band, it got super loud and he wasn't a fan. So we switched seats and after he ate and got out of the sling, he had a great time. It was a fun family outing. One of the first and definitely not one of the last...

Happy St Patrick's Day

Love, Charlie Boy
P.S. Anyone know how to take pictures without them having red eyes? I always have to edit it but there must be a trick to not having it happen in the first place, right?

Organizing Life

So now that Charlie Boy (CB) is here and I'm at home all day I realize that we haven't really ever completely moved in and gotten organized like I would've liked. There were boxes here and there and piles of things we just didn't know what to do with. So since I'm here and looking at these piles all day now, I got the fire to get organized and find places for things. It's been fabulous. Definitely a work in progress but it's coming along. Our laundry room used to have tool boxes and gift bags and stuff all over the counters and now it's immaculate. The tool boxes found a home and the gift bags got put in this super sweet contraption by the container store.

Our guest room closet is huge but is very poorly laid out so we bought this shelving unit. Now I'm just regretting that I didn't take before and after photos. Oh well.

Another area we're really cracking down is in the finance department. We've never spent more money than we make, but let's be honest, neither Trav nor I are very frugal. We have expensive taste and like nice things. So now that I will only be working part-time, CB is costing money, and student loans are coming due we decided to really get organized and make a budget that we follow more strictly. So Trav found this site called I Will Teach You To Be Rich and also Mint to track our spending and set up our budget. It's fun to see progress and to see the house becoming more organized. Pretty fab indeed.

And we can't really post on the blog without a pic of Charlie Boy, now can we?

Tribut till Svenskarna (Tribute to the Swedes)

So Charlie Boy is loving his new stations. The sweet bouncy seat that we wanted finally came from amazon and it is just as awesome as it looked online. Those Swedes just know how to make a quality product. :) And he's loving "tummy time" when we put him on his stomach on the boppy or just on the floor to strengthen his muscles. He lifts his head and turns it back and forth to look at the toys and kicks his arms and legs like he's doing those swimming ab/back exercises.

And we bought this fun H&M jumpsuit from a consignment sale awhile back and we've just been awaiting the day when he finally fit into it. Well today's the day and he looks so cute. Sure wish H&M would come to Little Rock... Again, those Swedes just know how to make a quality product.

Now all we need is a picture of Charlie Boy eating some Anna's pepparkakor and a Charlie/Ikea story to top it all off and we just might have to relocate to the mother land.

Chair for Charlie Boy

So due to a measuring error on my part, the fabulous Amy Butler fabric I chose for our great antique rocking chair wasn't big enough and we had to start over choosing new fabric. Boo. Luckily I have a talented sister that is going to sew a lumbar pillow for the chair out of the fabric I bought and we found some new fun (and big enough) green fabric to cover the chair. Travis did most of the covering work and he did a great job. Charlie Boy and I love it at 3 am. :)
