My favorite gift I ever received was this sling (Thank you, Kristin). My babes love it and I adore having them close and snug. There is nothing sweeter.

Fun in the Big City

While some of our family was here last weekend we decided to check out what the City had to offer. It definitely had some cold wind to offer, but that's always expected there. It also had delicious brunch from Sarabeth's to offer, a nice stroll around Central Park, and Boozle's first choo choo ride, which he thought was scary and too loud. Apparently he prefers the smaller toy variety.

Blessing Day

This past weekend we finally decided that L's immune system could handle a bit of church so we blessed him. T did a wonderful job and it was tender and sweet. We loved having family here to celebrate with and realized it always makes us wish we lived closer. Maybe someday.

In Case You Hadn't Heard...

In case you hadn't heard, we've gotten a ridiculous amount of snow here in New Jersey. Even 1" is a ridiculous amount, in my opinion, let alone many huge snowstorms with 18" each time. T said he liked snow in December. He was longing for a white Christmas, and he got it. After shoveling approximately 5 feet of snow thus far, he and his back are dunzo with the snow. Boozle, L, and I are also dunzo. We've been cooped up far too long and are just yearning for the sun.

Boozle loves trains and always wants to ride one. There's a fun one that does a little ride around Easter so I told him that when it gets warmer, we can go on the train. Not a day goes by without him reminding me that when it gets warmer, we get to go on a train! When it gets warmer... Now I'm thinking we should change it to if.

Needless to say, I've had to become very creative in coming up with inside activities for a very energetic 2 year-old. I checked out a few books from the library to get some ideas and we've actually had some fun doing the following activities:


snuggling in bed


bundling up and going to New York City for delicious brunch


trying to photo-document this growing-too-quickly sweet babe


hiding in boxes and popping out, making box tunnels for trains & people, etc...

giving Apa (monkey) a horsey ride

playing with water in the sink


singing Happy Birthday and blowing out candles many, many times


and taking naps because all this playing just wears us all out!

Woollie Love

When I first started cloth diapering I learned about wool. People use it as a cover over their diapers because it is 1. natural 2. can absorb up to 30% over its weight in moisture 3. when used with lanolin, it is moisture-repellent 4. breathable and 5. anti-bacterial. So it is ideal for a diaper cover in that it doesn't keep heat and moisture in close to baby's skin. During the day we mostly use gdiapers with hemp but at night we usually use a fitted cloth diaper with a wool cover over. Wool can be VERY expensive. I'm not kidding when I say one pair of pants can cost close to and over $100 (example). For a baby. That poops in it. Not worth it to me. I know how to crochet so I decided to try to make my own for Boozle. Little did I know I crochet very very tight so the 6-12 month size wasn't going to fit him. Not even close. I was disappointed and for some reason put them away and never made another pair.

Today I remembered them and dug them out of the box and tried them on L:



A perfect fit! I just love them. And I love that you can turn a piece of string into pants. Who came up with this? It's amazing. I also recently learned to knit and am working on my first project. It also is the perfect end of every day. Sitting with my needles and ball of yarn and chatting with T is heaven. I think I'll be a good grandma someday. :)


And just because it's darling, Boozle loves to pull out all his books and read them to himself multiple times each day. He'll pull a book out, look at its cover, and then excitedly say which book it is and open it to read. He'll say a few words here and there as he turns the pages.

I'm slowly but surely getting the hang of this being-a-mama-to-2 thing. And today has been such a great day so far. It's Boozle's birthday and it's sunny outside. What more could I want? Oh, maybe 20 more degrees, but you can't have everything. Some days are crazy hard but the past few days I've felt content and just completely in love with my 2 babes.

Big shoes for a big boy

I still remember when we bought these shoes. Boozle was a tiny baby. We thought it would be forever until they actually fit. Now they fit. It's official: Boozle's a big boy. And Mama still can't believe it.
